Family On Mission

Set your alarms to 10:02 Am because Luke 10:02 tells us:

10 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two[a] others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2 He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. 3 Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. 4 Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.

5 “When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ 6 If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you. 7 Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house.

8 “When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. 9 Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.

Le Clocher wants to live what we read in Luke 10.

To be sent out 2 by 2, to pray that God will send workers, to go, to live simply and to look for people of peace! We want to see the Kingdom of God come closer to Quebecers!

This is the cry of our hearts, but it is in contrast with the values of the present century which creates a certain suffering.

Excitement and suffering: These two words sum up what it is to be a Family of Servants in Mission.

With this in mind, we see that Le Clocher will have to live in 2021 a year of missionary move and team formation.

Here is an update from some of the participants of this vision.

Thibault and Marily Kennel

Hello dear partner friends,

We wish we could get to know you in person. But until that time comes, here's some news and our vision for 2021 so you can get to know us.

Marily and I (Thibault) are happily married since last summer. We are currently living in Montreal-North, close to our schools. Marily is studying special education, but she doesn't necessarily feel like she belongs in this field. She is very excited to start a degree in graphic design in September, where she will be able to better express her God-given artistic gifts.

I am studying almost full time at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of Montreal since 2019. If all goes well, I should finish my master's degree in a little less than 2 years. At the same time, I am a missionary at Le Clocher where Benjamin is training me on the field for the ministry of pastor. I really appreciate this theoretical and practical training which develops my knowledge but also my skills and my character. On top of that, I work two days a week at Walmart to provide for our little family.

What are our needs and prayers? We are currently supported by Christians from a church in France where I am from. Unfortunately this is not enough to support our couple financially, as Marily and I are both in school full time. My desire, my dream, would be that the financial support we receive would be enough for me to reduce or even stop my secular work at Walmart (until the end of my studies). The goal behind all this is to have a more reasonable pace of life and to be able to devote more time to the Church of Le Clocher: to take more time to accompany young believers and families, to be able to preach and lead meetings more regularly. We trust that God knows our needs better than we do and that he will provide. We give him glory that until now we have never lacked anything. God takes good care of his children!

A longer term desire: to move to Vaudreuil. We really want to move closer to our church as soon as we finish our studies, possibly in 2023 God willing. Please pray that God will give us the wisdom to know when to move and that he will open doors for us in Vaudreuil.

Another shorter term and more personal request: at the last moment my family learned that they could not be there for our wedding last summer and it was quite hard for them. We are looking forward to seeing them again and hope to go to France this summer. This trip is still uncertain for several reasons (Covid, Thibault's immigration file...), please pray that it can happen.

Thank you so much for your support! It is so precious to know that brothers and sisters are at our side in prayer and financially. Let us all work together for the advancement of the Kingdom in Quebec and for God to be glorified in this beautiful province.

God doesn't call us to stay in our comfort zone.

My friend Thibault helped me learn French in the spring of 2019 when I had just arrived in Quebec. He then joined "Le Clocher", a church plant, in the fall of 2019.

I visited him a few times and upon seeing this ministry, I felt moved to do something similar. After all, the reason I came to Quebec was to share the hope of the Gospel with everyone, and more specifically, to join and help create communities of believers.

For months I couldn't forget what I had experienced with them, then just before I went home for Christmas in 2019, they invited me to start praying to join them after my time at Word of Life. I was honored, but had a hard time believing that this was my place, I wondered "why me?" After all, I hadn't even done a full year in Quebec. I had never done anything like this, and I was still learning French.

In March 2020, I returned home during the pandemic and that desire to join them was still there. The more I prayed, the more I understood that God wanted this for me, despite the fact that I didn't think I was qualified enough. So I made my decision in the fall of 2020: I was excited to be a part of a project like this.

My training time with Word of Life will end in June. I will be coming home for a few months this summer before joining Le Clocher.

Their goal is: to evangelize their area, make disciples through relationship with the community, and multiply by planting other churches in the coming years. I will be joining them in this mission for the next two years. In the meantime, I only have one more class to finish my bachelor's degree, and in May, I will be done with my studies!

For one of my courses, I had to do a student teaching placement. A school in my town needed an English teacher during the quarantine and I was finally able to stay with them even after my internship ended (and I'm still working there now).

My VISA was renewed, so I can stay in Quebec until December 2021! God is on the move in Quebec. I am leading a Bible study and I am amazed at how God has taught me to do communities despite this complicated time of restrictions and confinement.

Please pray for The Source, the Christian school I work for. They are committed to educating children in a Christian environment and showing them how to be Christian leaders in Quebec. They are one of the few Christian schools that exist in the entire province. They are looking for an institution to give them a mortgage because they want to buy their property.

Please pray for my last few months as an intern at Word of Life, that I will be able to lead people well and that I will be able to finish the school year well.

Hello everyone. It's my turn to give you some news :D

Sarah, despite her wisdom, has decided to accept to become my wife. The wedding will take place, God willing, on September 11, 2021. We are in the process of organizing this event. Those who know me know how hard it is for me to organize something that will happen only 5 months from now...But more than just the wedding day, we have to look forward to what will follow that day and which is even more important: the real wedding, living our new life together.

When you are married to someone, you enter into a deeper dimension than any other type of relationship, for the better, but also for the worse: you have a front row seat to the weaknesses, sins, struggles of the other. Marriage has the ability to reveal to the other who I really am. But it is only when the "real me" is revealed that the work can really begin

We have the opportunity to be followed by a couple who are also in ministry and who help us to ask the right questions, to point out the subjects we need to address as future brides.

Beyond that, there is another form of organization: the preparation of how, where, and with whom. The question for me and Sarah was where God was leading us. We went through a few special weeks of listening but also being active in this process of planning our move. It turns out that we are about to commit to the Estrie region. Between the heartbreak of leaving Le Clocher and this family, and the excitement of a new adventure, we want to be attentive to God's call, for Sarah's work and for my situation as a ministry worker in training.

Indeed, Sarah works in an elementary school, and she is taking her place more and more. She has recently been accompanying a little boy with Down's syndrome, in addition to her childcare services.

As for me, I will commit myself to a church in the region to be trained.

This year has shown me that my call is still "broad", that it is not directed towards a particular ministry but that it encompasses several areas and skills that I want to continue to develop by his Spirit and by the leaders who will surround me. I will summarize my goal as follows:

I want to be able to show more and more by my life (being on mission where I live) and by my words (speaking the Gospel, through discussions and preaching) who Jesus is, to lead the Christians around me in this same desire, so that the non-believers who observe and hear us will also want to submit their lives to Jesus.

Until then, because of my studies and also my status as a missionary on the Canadian territory, I continue to put the financial side in the hands of God, who has provided for my needs until now. The goal is that once my residency is acquired and my degree is completed, I will be able to get a part-time job and continue to serve a church.

Christian and Roxanne Franche

We are Christian, Roxane and Olivier. We are currently living in Casselman, Ontario (50 min. from Ottawa and 1h15 from Montreal). Olivier has been with us for 7 months, on September 11, 2020. Before being on maternity leave, Roxane was working in the payroll department at La Cité (a French college in Ottawa) and I was working in construction. For the past few years, we have been thinking of joining Le Clocher to serve and learn, so that we could eventually be equipped to do the same. Finally, with reflection and prayer, we believe that God is leading us in this direction. In 2021, we want to move to Vaudreuil. We are thinking of buying a house that needs renovation or a triplex. We are finding it difficult to buy in Vaudreuil as we are not very familiar with the area and prices vary greatly from one neighborhood to another. However, we are blessed because our house will probably sell for much more than last year.

What keeps us in Fournier for the time being is that I (Christian) am involved in the construction of my parents' house and we are hosting my sister Rebecca who needed a place to stay during construction. We believe it is good to take care of her. However, we are wondering what God wants for this summer. We know that God is in control and wants to take care of Rebekah. Does God want to take care of my sister through our interim or does He want us to trust Him with her needs and move forward with the move to Vaudreuil?

In this first year, we would especially like to get to know Le Clocher and our future neighbors better. We would also like to offer our talents and gifts to Le Clocher. Our dream for Le Clocher in 2021 is to pray, love each other, our neighbors and encourage each other so that the Gospel reaches the Vaudreuil area.

Our requests to God are :

- Wisdom regarding the situation with my sister - To trust God in our move (to let Him be in control) - Keep our hearts madly in love with Him - Leave our church for Le Clocher for the right reasons - Reassure Roxane of this big change

- End of Roxane's maternity leave March 2022 and resignation...(Financial stability) - Find a job for Christian - Choosing a property with God's guidance and not only our desires (house to renovate, new house with basement to finish, triplex or new construction) - The unknown of a new city (also ON vs QC) - More risky area in terms of Covid - Explain our departure to the family (especially those who are not Christians, Roxane's brothers) and move away from the family

You see all these challenges, this excitement, the fears, the unknown, the trust in God, the leading of the Spirit. And you are one of them. And yes, by praying for us, for the missionaries of the Le Clocher, you are part of this adventure. And maybe God or the Spirit is calling you to help them in some other way.

Please keep us in prayer, prayer is necessary for the mission, it is a matter of life and death. And we thank God for having you on our team.

Another subject of prayer.

Our valve just died after 11 years of service with our family.

We are looking for a 5-seater SUV for the suite.

Please pray about it and if you know of a deal! We have a listening ear ;-)
